Building Smart Villages in Africa
Description
Welcome to your course on Building Smart Villages in Africa!
Smart villages are local communities that leverage innovation and technology to provide or improve key services and address local challenges. This course presents the pilot project outcomes for achieving universal and meaningful connectivity in villages in Niger that were previously disconnected from the digital world.
In doing so, this course unpacks the concept of smart villages in more detail. It looks at the **prerequisites** of smart villages, including the whole-of-government approach and political will, and the **four phases** of building them (Analyse and Plan, Design and Develop, Deploy and Implement, and Monitor and Evaluate). This knowledge will enable you to analyse the steps required to build them within your local context, emphasizing the need for collaborative, sustainable solutions, and a bottom-up leadership approach.
